Mark du Potiers is an Australian artist living in Hong Kong. He explores cultural identity and anxiety through contemporary sculpture, seeking to upend more traditional forms of representation.
Living in the current tumultuous political climate of Hong Kong whilst learning more about his identity, family history, and culture – Mark presents to you over the coming fortnight a dip into complex concepts of be/longing. Through the lens of both Eastern and Western mythologies, this residency project – SUNSHINE STATE – is an exercise in vulnerability through confession, and an acknowledgement of struggle. How does one recontextualise movement between cultures, whether that movement be something that you follow… or it follows you…?
