Alex A. Jones and Cameron Klavsen are artists based in New York. Their collaborative practice employs science fiction as a medium and methodology, Often utilizing the Earth's Moon as a setting or frame of reference. They produce books that combine text and image, and artworks that integrate traditional and digital media. Their latest project, The Lunar Mansions, is a collection of 28 fables that narrate future societies stricken with unexpected consequences of technological advance. These stories are devised in parallel with sculptural artworks that echo their characters and settings. Though the Lunar Mansions revolve around disaster, they avoid the extremes of success and failure that characterize utopian and dystopian science fiction, instead pivoting on the "anti-utopian" ambiguities that always characterize our relationship to technology.
